FIND A JOB IN FRANCE - MY ADVICE

I recommend you to read my previous post HERE about the working conditions and working life in French companies. It's important to be aware and ok with that before starting looking for a job.

Is there any requirements to work in France? Is speaking French mandatory to find a job in France? No but..

You can find a job in France even if you don’t speak French but it will make your search more difficult. First of all because most job offers and websites are in French but also because most employers ask for good basics in French, it is even more true if you want a high responsibilities job. Also, if you can’t speak French you will probably only be able to get small jobs such as server/waiter/barman, private teacher or in tourism (hotels) and in the countryside during the harvest seasons.

To increase your chance to find a job, having a CV and cover letter are essentials. They must be in French if you say you are able to speak French. No need to have it in French if you can’t speak. One more important thing, diplomas are as much important as work experiences and mandatory for high responsibilities job.

If you are a citizen of an EU countries or Switzerland, you can freely work in France. For people coming from other countries, your employer will have to apply for an authorization/permit for you.

- ANEFA, agricultural and viticultural (wine growing) jobs (website in French)

- Craigslist, mostly Paris

- IAPA (International Au Pair Organisation), a list of French agencies for au pair jobs

- Indeed France (website in French but some ads are in English)

- Keljob (website in French)

- L’Etudiant, students and young graduates (website in French)

- L’Hôtellerie Restauration, restaurants and hotel jobs (website in French)

- Monster (website in French)

- Stratégies Emploi, marketing, communications and PR jobs (website in French)
