If you wish to go off beaten tracks and discover a new aspect of Paris I recommend you “Coulée Verte René Dumont”. It’s a walk at 10 meters above street level, on the former railway line, which linked Place de la Bastille to Varenne-Saint-Maur.
A beautiful and unexpected journey of 4.5km that gives you the opportunity to discover a city panorama across Parisian rooftops.
Plants, flowers and trees are various and abundant. A place, which will make you feel you are in the countryside in the heart of Paris!
HOW LONG? 2h walking
WHEN? During a sunny day. Spring and summer are the best periods to fully benefit from the beauty of the promenade.
WHERE? From Bastille to Bois de Vincennes (4,5km). You can start and stop the walk anytime and anywhere. It’s also accessible to persons with reduced mobility via elevators present along the walk.
Starting point from station Bastille, go to 44-46 rue de Lyon, the entrance is near the "Le Viaduc des Arts" (see picture 1)
Here some of my pics if you were not already fully convinced to go :)
